In case you are suffering from occupational asthma, then your doctor would advise you to stay away from the irritants which are likely to cause the asthma attacks. Some asthma medications might also be required to provide relief.

The first and foremost condition is to avoid the irritants present placed at the workplace. This is because even a small quantity of the irritant may trigger an asthma attack. It is also possible if you wear a mask or respirator.

There are some long term medications available which should be taken on a regular basis. Inhaled corticosteroids like Flovent and Pulmicort, long-acting beta agonists, Leukotriene modifiers, Cromolyn and nedocromil, Theophylline as well as combination medications are some of the examples.

There are some Quick relief medications as well. Some of the examples are Albuterol, Levalbuterol, Pirbuterol as well as Ipratropium. Oral corticosteroids are also consumed for severe asthma symptoms; however these have a lot of long-term side effects. For example- prednisone, methylprednisolone and hydrocortisone.

Some allergy medications are also available which include allergy shots and Omalizumab. These help in controlling the asthma symptoms which might be triggered due to allergic reactions. If you have severe occupational asthma, it is advisable to leave the workplace to prevent other problems.
