Steroids are one of the most efficient drugs available in the market that are being used as counteractive for asthma particularly for those patients who are suffering with acute or chronic asthma attacks. Currently, large number of cortisone steroid is present to prevent these attacks.
Although using these Steroids have side effects also. Medical experts are now concentrating on minimizing or avoiding these side effects.
In many of the cases response of asthmatic patient towards steroids is positive one. However, in few cases patients respond poorly, which causes them to consume higher dose of steroids in order to control asthma. Excessive uses of these drugs leads to further complications .There have been some examples where asthma of patients comes to worst and they later on increase the dosage of the steroids. This eventually makes the steroids less effective against the asthma.
It is therefore necessary to diagnose and investigate the different factors that might lead to an attack. These factors may include wrong diagnosis, insufficient amount of steroid reaching the airway or disclosure to unknown or sensitizing agents.
It is of utmost importance to have proper knowledge when dealing with steroid resistant asthma to provide better treatment. With availability of modern technology, the effects of steroids on the function of cells will be easier to understand and this knowledge would be used for improving the response to treatment |
