What are the causes of Occupational Asthma?

In general Asthma has two components first is the underlying chronic inflammation and another is periodic attacks. The causes for underlying inflammation is however not certain but in general it is found that asthma runs in family and some of the people are born with the tendency. The occupational asthma is found generally at the work place. In this asthma, the trigger is a substance or a condition in the workplace leading to the breathing difficulty or the problem of occupational asthma. Most of these substances or conditions are quite common and if seen are not hazardous and are encountered at most of the work places. However, occupational asthma is found to be more common in some of the following industries or jobs: plastics industry, rubber industry, chemical industry, textile industry, electronics industry, painting, printing, dyeing wielding etc.

It is not necessary that everyone who is exposed to the above-mentioned triggers may encounter asthma. It is found that some people are more susceptible to asthma than others are. Some of the risks factors if exposed can lead to occupational asthma are: allergies, smoking, frequent exposure to the trigger or if the person has family history of allergies and asthma.

So, it is better to recognize the cause of occupational asthma at the early stages so that all could be done to control it.
